Taking two taxis in a single day to reach a job opportunity is, by any measure, a statement of intent. Karim did it at the age of twenty, when a chance at a larger, better barbershop presented itself in Morocco. He was not going to miss it. He had been captivated since eighteen, when he stood outside salons in Morocco and could picture himself cutting the styles he saw on the walls. He picked up the craft faster than most and spent years working his way toward the standard he had set in his own mind. By twenty five he was ready for Dubai. At Chaps JLT, he arrived already knowing what the brand stood for. He had been watching it grow since 2015.
