Scissor cuts, texture work, fading, and colour from the basics through to the boldest highlights: Jay's range is deliberately wide, built so that whatever a client asks for, the answer is yes. The only barber in a family of non barbers, he found his fashion at fourteen and built it through years of watching other stylists and seminars. A hair colour competition early on, where his result came out far behind the room, still motivates him: that shame pushed him to take the craft seriously. Just leave it to me, he tells new clients at Chaps Bloomingdale's, and everything is gonna be alright. Twenty four years and an international salon later, that confidence has the results to back it up.
